PUTRAJAYA January 27, 2026 – The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) today concluded the MyCorps Academy: Borneo 2025/2026 Programme with a closing ceremony officiated by Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Mordi Anak Bimol, at Menara KBS, Putrajaya.
A total of 40 youths from diverse backgrounds in Sabah and Sarawak participated in the two-week programme (15 to 28 January 2026) organised by the National Department for Youth and Sports (JBSN). Themed “Changing Lives”, the programme placed participants in Tumpat, Kelantan; Muar, Johor; and Sungai Petani, Kedah, where they received intensive volunteer training and practical exposure in community development, education, health, welfare, and humanitarian assistance. This was carried out through collaborations with government agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK).
The primary objective of MyCorps Academy: Borneo 2025/2026 is to produce skilled, authoritative, and compassionate youth volunteers while strengthening ties between youth and local communities, particularly in rural areas and among youths who are not affiliated with any organisations.
The programme also contributes to enhancing strategic cooperation between the government, NGOs, and communities, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It adopts an outcome-based approach to ensure community projects are implemented swiftly, cost-effectively, and with high impact.
In 2026, KBS will expand the MyCorps initiative internationally by opening participation to Malaysian youths aged 30 and below for the MyCorps @ Timor Leste Programme. This initiative aims to broaden Malaysian youths’ global volunteerism experience and support the Malaysia MADANI vision in developing competitive, caring, and responsible young generations.
