KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 8 2026 — Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim has affirmed the government’s full commitment to thoroughly investigate every finding and recommendation in the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji, following a clear directive from Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim.
In a statement posted on X on Saturday morning, Anwar expressed gratitude for the audience granted by the King at Istana Bukit Tunku earlier that day. He said the meeting covered several important national developments affecting the country’s interests and the welfare of the people.
“His Majesty’s order for a thorough investigation into the RCI report on Lembaga Tabung Haji is fully aligned with the Madani government’s resolve to ensure every recommendation and finding is investigated comprehensively without any compromise,” Anwar wrote.
The prime minister emphasised that Tabung Haji manages a sacred trust built from the hard-earned savings of millions of Malaysians — including farmers, civil servants, and middle- and lower-income earners who have saved for years to fulfil the call to perform the Hajj.
“This trust of such magnitude must never be betrayed. Therefore, anyone found to have misused that trust must be brought to justice in accordance with the law,” he stated.
Anwar also briefed the King on progress in the investigations related to the Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA). He informed His Majesty that the government is currently examining the special task force report so that all findings can be thoroughly reviewed and appropriate action taken under the law.
The Madani government, he added, remains firmly committed to the principles of good governance, transparency and accountability. Justice will be upheld and any betrayal of the people’s trust will be met with firm action, regardless of position or rank.
Anwar further noted that the government will continue to strengthen security controls at all national entry points through effective enforcement, continuous monitoring and close inter-agency cooperation to curb cross-border crime and safeguard the nation’s security and sovereignty.
He concluded by pledging that he and the entire government machinery will continue to uphold the King’s directives in order to strengthen governance, enforcement and national security, thereby ensuring the well-being of the people.
The RCI report on Tabung Haji, covering the period 2014–2020, was released to the public on July 29. A special sitting of the Dewan Rakyat is scheduled for August 11 to debate its findings.
