MELAKA, Aug 7 2026 — Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Friday performed solat Jumaat with local congregants at Masjid Ar-Rasyidin in Alor Gajah, Melaka, and earlier shared a meal with residents at a nearby eatery.
In a post on his official X account, Anwar said he was grateful for the opportunity to join the Friday prayers. The khutbah focused on the significance of Rabiulawal, urging the congregation to reflect on the sirah of Prophet Muhammad SAW and to nurture love (mahabbah) for the Prophet in everyday life.
Before the prayers, Anwar stopped for lunch at Restoran Sultan Salai in Simpang Ampat, where he spent time chatting with members of the local community.
“Semoga ukhuwah yang terjalin terus diperkukuh dan membawa keberkatan buat kita semua, Insya-Allah,” he wrote, expressing hope that the bonds of brotherhood would continue to grow and bring blessings.
Photos accompanying the post show the Prime Minister interacting warmly with young boys inside the mosque, greeting elderly religious figures, and mingling casually with diners at the restaurant. He was also seen addressing a group of people under a canopy outside the mosque compound.
Anwar tagged the post with the hashtags #MalaysiaMADANI, #MADANIbekerja and #YakinMADANI, aligning the engagement with the government’s broader MADANI agenda of unity, good governance and people-centred policies.
The visit reflects the Prime Minister’s regular practice of spending Fridays among ordinary Malaysians outside the capital.
