ALOR GAJAH, MELAKA Aug 7, 2026 — Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim stressed that Malaysia’s true greatness is measured not solely by development achievements but by the strength of its people living united in diversity, during the opening of the Karnival Gelombang MADANI at the Masjid Tanah Sports Complex on Friday.
In a post on X shortly after the event, Anwar wrote: “Kemegahan Malaysia bukan hanya diukur pada pencapaian pembangunan, tetapi pada kekuatan rakyatnya yang hidup bersatu dalam kepelbagaian.” He highlighted how coexistence across religions, races, ethnic groups and backgrounds forms the pillar of the nation’s peace and prosperity.
Anwar noted that Malaysia comprises Malay, Chinese, Indian and other ethnic communities, alongside educational institutions such as religious schools and Maahad Tahfiz that thrive in a spirit of mutual respect. This harmony, he said, stems from a deliberate willingness to embrace diversity as a source of strength rather than something that occurs automatically.
He urged the audience at the carnival to continue rejecting hatred, prejudice and division, calling on Malaysians to safeguard the peace enjoyed today so the country remains a secure, prosperous and blessed homeland for future generations. The post carried the hashtags #MalaysiaMADANI, #MADANIbekerja and #YakinMADANI.
At the same event, Anwar announced a total allocation of RM1.29 million to repair and upgrade infrastructure at 13 Islamic educational institutions in Melaka. Recipients included Madrasah Tahfiz Al-Quran Wal Qiraat Kota Melaka (RM250,000), Sekolah Rendah Arab JAIM Pernu (RM200,000) and several other Sekolah Agama Rakyat and Arabic schools under the Melaka Islamic Religious Department.
He emphasised that support for Islamic institutions does not mean neglecting vernacular schools. Allocations already approved for Chinese and Tamil schools will be announced in Kuala Lumpur within the next two weeks. “Negara ini kalau nak aman, kena bagi dan jaga semua,” Anwar said, underscoring the MADANI government’s commitment to balanced attention for every community and education stream to preserve national harmony.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh and Deputy Higher Education Minister Adam Adli Abdul Halim.
