HOLLYWOOD Aug 6. 2026 — Passersby on Sunset Boulevard may have done a double take Thursday after spotting a man casually living inside a billboard high above the street. Netflix highlighted the unusual promotional stunt in a post that simply declared, “There’s a guy in there 👀,” accompanied by video footage of the installation.
The elaborate setup features a fully furnished living room built into a house-like billboard structure roughly 30 feet above the ground at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Selma Avenue. The structure is designed to look like a suburban home overgrown with vines, complete with a bay window, door, and the film’s title plus the tagline “How long can you survive?” A real performer is spending three days — from Thursday, August 6, through Saturday, August 8 — inside the enclosed space, going about everyday activities while remaining sealed off from the outside world.
In Netflix’s video, the man appears in a red cardigan over a white T-shirt and checkered pants, sitting cross-legged in the window, eating from a bowl, and gazing out over the Sunset Strip. Reports indicate he has also been seen using binoculars and communicating with people below via a whiteboard, echoing the isolation at the heart of the movie.
The stunt directly mirrors the premise of The Last House, the sci-fi thriller that premieres on Netflix on August 7. Directed by Louis Leterrier (Now You See Me, Fast X), the film stars Greta Lee and Wagner Moura as parents in a family of four who find themselves mysteriously sealed inside their home with no way out. As resources dwindle, they must work together to survive against a mysterious external threat that keeps them trapped.
Supporting cast includes Riley Chung, Emma Ho, Noah Alexander Sosnowski, and Gabriel Barbosa. The screenplay is by Matthew Robinson (Love and Monsters). Netflix’s official site describes the story as an ordinary family’s worst nightmare that tests the limits of family bonds and the idea of home as a safe haven.
The billboard campaign comes just as Sunset Boulevard reopened after recent water main repairs nearby. Fans can follow the performer’s ongoing “confinement” on social media for a real-world taste of the film’s claustrophobic tension ahead of its streaming debut.
The Last House is rated PG-13 and runs approximately 1 hour and 50–52 minutes. It is available exclusively on Netflix starting August 7.
