Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 27, 2026

This privacy policy explains what personal data Life News Agency collects when you use our website, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We aim to handle personal data responsibly and in line with Malaysia’s Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA).

Who we are

Life News Agency (LNA) is a Malaysian online news publisher. Our website is https://lifenewsagency.com. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Life News Agency, and “you” refers to anyone who visits or uses the site.

What data we collect

Signing in with Google to comment

Readers can choose to sign in with their Google account in order to comment on our stories. If you do, Google shares only your basic profile with us: your name, your email address and your profile picture. We do not ask for, and do not receive, access to your Gmail, contacts, files or any other Google data.

We use this information only to create your commenter account on our site and to show your name and profile picture next to the comments you post. Your email address is not displayed publicly.

Comments

When you leave a comment, we store the content of the comment along with the information WordPress records with every comment, namely your IP address and your browser’s user agent string. This helps us moderate discussions and detect spam. Approved comments, together with your name and profile picture, are visible to the public.

Spam protection

Comments may be checked by Akismet, an automated anti-spam service run by Automattic. To do this, comment data such as the comment text, your name, email address, IP address and browser details may be sent to Akismet for analysis. This data may be processed outside Malaysia. You can read more in Automattic’s privacy policy at https://automattic.com/privacy/.

Cookies

We use cookies, which are small files stored by your browser, to keep you signed in, to remember your preferences and to make site features such as commenting work properly. Login cookies are removed when you sign out or when they expire. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some features, including commenting, may not work without them.

Analytics

We may use basic analytics tools to understand how many people visit the site and which stories are read most. This information is used in aggregate to improve our journalism and the website, and is not used to identify individual readers.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data.
  • We do not post anything to your Google account or act on your behalf in any Google service.

Who we share data with

We share personal data only where it is needed to run the site, for example with our web hosting provider and with the anti-spam service described above, or where we are required to do so by law.

How long we keep your data

We keep your commenter account and your comments for as long as your account is active or until you ask us to remove them. Comment metadata, such as IP addresses, is kept with the comment so that we can moderate discussions and deal with abuse. Comments marked as spam are deleted automatically after a period of time. If you ask us to delete your account, we will remove your personal data unless we need to keep some of it for legal, security or administrative reasons.

Your rights and choices

Under the PDPA you may ask to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. You can also ask us to remove your commenter account or any of your comments. To make a request, email us at info@lifenewsagency.com from the email address linked to your account, so that we can verify the request comes from you. We will respond within a reasonable time.

You can stop our site’s access to your Google account at any time by visiting https://myaccount.google.com/permissions and removing Life News Agency from the list of connected apps. Doing this stops future sign-ins through Google but does not delete comments you have already posted; please contact us if you would like those removed as well.

Children

Our website is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we add new features or when the law changes. The latest version will always be published on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
