DAMANSARA August 6, 2026 – Malaysia’s Minister of Digital and Democratic Action Party (DAP) National Chairman Gobind Singh Deo visited Pasar Besar Chempaka early Wednesday morning to distribute Jalur Gemilang flags to market vendors and residents as part of efforts to build momentum for the country’s 69th National Day celebrations.
In a series of posts on X, Gobind said he went to the multi-ethnic market for breakfast and handed out the national flags to traders as a gesture to “warm up the atmosphere” ahead of Hari Kebangsaan.
“Bulan kemerdekaan sudah tiba, dan sewajarnya kita rakyat Malaysia meraikan rasa cinta akan tanah air ini dengan sebaiknya!” he wrote. He added that engaging with the diverse community served as a timely reminder that, in the 69th year of independence, harmony and unity remain among the nation’s most valuable assets.
“We all need to continue standing together to protect and preserve this blessing,” Gobind said, using the hashtags #P106, #HKHM2026, #MalaysiaMADANI and #HariKebangsaan69.
Photos shared by the MP for Damansara show him posing with vendors and residents of various ethnic backgrounds holding a large Malaysian flag, exchanging handshakes on the street outside the market, and chatting warmly with traders inside the premises amid red lanterns and everyday market stalls.
The visit forms part of early grassroots activities as Malaysia enters the official National Month period leading up to Independence Day on August 31.
