PULAU INDAH, November 5, 2026 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has officially opened Daiso Malaysia Group Sdn Bhd’s new Global Distribution Centre, describing the RM1.2 billion private investment as continued international confidence in Malaysia as a regional logistics and distribution hub.
In a post shared on X on Thursday, Anwar said he had completed the inauguration of the centre, which he said would serve as Daiso’s main logistics hub linking production networks in Japan and China and international suppliers to 27 countries in Asia and the Middle East.
“I hope this facility will also open a path for more Malaysian-made products to penetrate international markets through Daiso’s global distribution network,” he wrote. “This at once gives local producers and suppliers the chance to expand their markets and raise the competitiveness of products made in this country.”
Anwar said the large-scale initiative would not only strengthen Malaysia’s role in regional supply chains and trade, but also energise the logistics sector and create new high-value jobs. “We want every investor presence to bring added value to the domestic economy, raise industrial capability and widen prosperity for the people,” he said.
Largest Daiso warehouse worldwide
According to reports from The Edge Malaysia, Malay Mail and Astro Awani, the centre at Taman Perindustrian Samudera on Pulau Indah near Port Klang spans about 133,666 square metres and is Daiso’s largest warehouse facility worldwide, surpassing its home base in Hiroshima, Japan. Coverage of the opening put the investment at RM1.2 billion, matching the figure in Anwar’s post.
In his verbatim speech released by the Prime Minister’s Office, Anwar said the centre showed how goods could be sorted, stored and repacked in Pulau Indah before being sent to international markets, allowing Malaysia to capture more value from global trade rather than serving only as a transit point. He also said the project had been completed ahead of schedule and below budget.
