MELAKA, November 5, 2026 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim told a Malam Harapan gathering that Malaysia’s strength rests on the unity of its people, not on the politics of hatred, racism and enmity that he said would only tear down the foundations of the nation.
In a post shared on X on Thursday night, Anwar said he was with the people of Melaka at Sekolah Tinggi Pay Fong for the programme. “Tonight I am with the people of Melaka at the Malam Harapan programme at Sekolah Tinggi Pay Fong, carrying a clear message that Malaysia’s strength lies in the unity of its people, not in the politics of hatred, racism and enmity that will only tear down the foundations of the nation,” he wrote.
He said the Madani government continued to focus on driving economic growth, attracting investment and creating meaningful jobs for the young. Citing figures in his own post, he pointed to a Google investment announcement of US$15 billion expected to generate 30,000 jobs, and the opening of a logistics hub valued at RM1.5 billion by Japanese firm Daiso, as evidence of international investor confidence in Malaysia’s stability and economic direction.
“However, economic progress has no meaning if the nation’s wealth continues to be tainted by corruption, leakages and abuse of power,” he said. “I stress that politics must return to the principles of trust, integrity and accountability, not become a vehicle to enrich oneself and certain groups at the expense of the people’s interest.”
Call to Melaka voters
Anwar urged Melaka voters to defend the spirit of togetherness, reject narrow politics that divides society, and strengthen the resolve to build a state and country that is peaceful, prosperous and just for all, regardless of race, religion or background. He ended the post with the campaign line “Lawan tetap lawan!” and the hashtags #Harapan and #MelakaRumahKita.
The Melaka state election campaign is under way after nomination day on October 31, with early voting on November 10 and polling day on November 14, according to the Election Commission (SPR). Pakatan Harapan, which Anwar chairs, is contesting 24 of the 28 seats.
Separately on Thursday, Anwar also joined other Melaka campaign stops, including the Jelajah Aspirasi MADANI programme for the Kelebang constituency and an evening programme linked to the Paya Rumput seat, where Harapan is fielding Datuk Azman Abidin.
