PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA February 3, 2026 – The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) has successfully recorded seizures valued at RM82 million within just one year of its establishment, an achievement described as highly commendable by the Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
During a townhall session with AKPS personnel yesterday, he delivered messages and aspirations in line with the Prime Minister’s directive for enforcement agencies to continuously enhance performance and focus on their core duties.
“RM82 million. That is the value of seizures successfully recorded by AKPS in just one year since its establishment — a truly proud achievement. Alhamdulillah,” said Saifuddin Nasution in a shared statement.
As a young agency, AKPS has demonstrated high capability from the very beginning. Starting with the opening of the International Cargo Clearance System (ICQS), initial operations in Rantau Panjang, and the smooth transition of border control without disrupting daily operations — despite involving coordination among multiple agencies.
The agency, officially established under the Ministry of Home Affairs, serves as the single authority coordinating security and control at all of Malaysia’s entry and exit points (land, sea, and air) to combat illegal activities such as smuggling, human trafficking, unauthorised entry, and drug distribution.
Moving forward, AKPS will continue to be strengthened with more modern entry point control technologies, in line with the national border security direction. Saifuddin cited international border control agencies such as the Australia Border Force, UK Immigration and Customs Authority, and US Border Patrol as benchmarks for AKPS’s development.
“This first year is just the beginning — congratulations to the leadership and all AKPS personnel! Insya-Allah, AKPS will continue to serve as a strong and authoritative fortress for the nation’s borders,” he added.
This achievement reflects AKPS’s strong commitment to bolstering Malaysia’s border security, facilitating legitimate trade and travel while upholding integrity and collaboration with other agencies. With ongoing enhancements, AKPS is expected to play an even more significant role in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and prosperity.
