KAWANG, SABAH. MALAYSIA Nov 8, 2025 – In a show of unyielding political momentum, Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali joined thousands of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) members this morning for the high-spirited launch of the coalition’s election machinery ahead of the 17th Sabah State Election (PRN Sabah), focusing on the Kawang state constituency.
The event, which drew enthusiastic crowds including GRS leadership and representatives from the party’s Women’s Wing, Youth Wing, and Beliawanis (youth and women’s empowerment arm), underscored the coalition’s battle-ready stance as the polls draw nearer. Armizan, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Papar, described the gathering not as mere pageantry but as a clear signal of GRS’s operational grit on the ground.
“I am thrilled and energized this morning to stand alongside our leaders and thousands of dedicated members at the Majlis Pelancaran Jentera GRS PRU DU Sabah Ke-17,” Armizan posted on social media, capturing the electric atmosphere. “This launch marks our party’s preparedness and unwavering commitment to fieldwork in the lead-up to the PRN.”
Highlighting the event’s deeper significance, Armizan praised the palpable unity and vigor among attendees. He spotlighted the infusion of fresh dynamism from the Youth and Beliawanis wings, seamlessly integrated with the “unshakable resolve” of the Women’s Wing—GRS’s steadfast backbone. “This blend instills confidence that we can steer through political challenges with maturity and strategy,” he added, invoking optimism for victory. “Insha Allah, DUN Kawang is ours 💪🏻. Rumah Kita, Kita Jaga—Our Home, We Protect It.”
The launch in Kawang, a key constituency in Sabah’s coastal belt, is part of GRS’s broader push to consolidate support in East Malaysia’s diverse political landscape. As the ruling coalition, GRS is leveraging grassroots mobilization to counter opposition gains, with Armizan’s presence bridging his ministerial duties and party loyalty. The minister’s dual role has positioned him as a pivotal figure in Sabah politics, blending economic advocacy with electoral strategy.
With the state election’s date yet to be announced but widely anticipated in the coming months, today’s rally signals intensified campaigning. GRS leaders emphasized community-driven pledges on local issues like economic resilience and cultural preservation, aligning with Armizan’s national portfolio on domestic trade.
As chants and cheers echoed through the venue, the event reinforced GRS’s narrative of collective guardianship over Sabah’s future, setting the tone for a fiercely contested PRN.
