KUALA LUMPUR, October 31 – Selangor Red Giants (SRG) are through to the Grand Final of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Malaysia (MPL MY) Season 18 after sweeping Team Rey 3-0 in the upper bracket final at Stadium Juara, Bukit Kiara, on Friday night, October 30, 2026.
The win also sends the defending champions to the MLBB M8 World Championship in Istanbul, Türkiye, as the league’s format gives both Grand Final teams an automatic place at the world event.
SRG won all three games against Team Rey, taking them in about 23, 19 and 22 minutes, to stay unbeaten in the playoffs. A day earlier, on October 29, the squad had swept Bigetron MY by VIT (BTRM) 3-0 in the upper bracket semi-final, according to Bernama.
Chasing a sixth straight title
SRG now have the chance to make more history in Malaysian esports. They have won the MPL MY title for five seasons in a row since Season 13, and the Grand Final on Sunday, November 1, is a shot at a sixth straight crown, RTM reported.
SRG head coach Michael Angelo Bocado, better known as Arcadia, told RTM that the team had prepared for both possible opponents before the playoffs began.
“We had already prepared for both of these teams before the playoff stage started. So no matter who our opponent is, we already have a strategy to contain their style of play, as well as making sure we can carry out our plans based on our own strengths,” he said.
Arcadia said he was pleased with his players’ overall performance, but reminded them to keep their discipline and teamwork and not give opponents room to change the momentum of a game.
“Of course our focus is on the Grand Final. We really want to win a sixth title and defend our crown. We see this as something historic that we can achieve together. We set this target before the playoffs started, and now we want to make sure we reach it,” he said.
Vamos knock out Bigetron
Earlier on Friday, Team Vamos kept their season alive by beating BTRM 3-1 in the lower bracket semi-final, which knocked BTRM out of the title race.
Team Vamos will now face Team Rey in the best-of-seven lower bracket final today, October 31. The winner will meet SRG in the best-of-seven Grand Final and will also take Malaysia’s second place at the M8 World Championship.
Team Rey had reached the upper bracket final by beating Team Vamos in the upper semi-final on October 29, so the lower final will be a rematch between the two sides.
For SRG, a title defence would also give them a boost as they prepare to carry Malaysia’s hopes on the world stage. Bernama reported that M8 will be the team’s third world championship appearance in a row.
