BANGKOK — Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) has been named Mobile Esports Game of the Year at the GamingonPhone Awards 2026, the fifth time the hugely popular mobile title has taken the honour, its developer MOONTON Games announced on October 29, 2026.
MOONTON Games’ Public Relations team also picked up PR/Marketing Team of the Year, its second win in that category, at the ceremony held in Thailand.
A milestone in MLBB’s 10th year
The awards arrive during MLBB’s 10th anniversary, which the game has marked through its global ALL IN MLBB campaign celebrating the players, communities, creators and esports talent who have grown with it over the past decade.
According to MOONTON Games, MLBB has grown from its Southeast Asian roots into a global game and esports platform with more than 1.5 billion installations and 110 million monthly active users across more than 80 countries. The anniversary brought hero revamps, in-game rewards and player-led storytelling, along with offline celebrations in 10 countries across three continents.
Marcus Lim, Head of Public Relations (Overseas) at MOONTON Games, who received the award, said: “This is MLBB’s fifth Mobile Esports Game of the Year. The timing couldn’t be better as we celebrate 10 years of MLBB this month. The last decade is testament to the players, teams, creators, partners, and of course, the media, who have supported and grown with us.”
He added that the PR/Marketing Team of the Year win was “deeply meaningful”, noting that PR teams “more often stand in the shadows”.
Tousif Hasan Biswas, Founder and CEO of GamingonPhone, said MOONTON Games’ wins reflected the company’s impact across the mobile games industry, “from building successful esports ecosystems to fostering strong communities and delivering experiences that resonate with players worldwide.”
A record-breaking year for MLBB esports
The award caps a year of major milestones for the game’s competitive scene. The M7 World Championship became the most-watched mobile esports tournament in history, reaching 5.68 million peak concurrent viewers, according to Esports Charts.
The MLBB Mid Season Cup (MSC) and MLBB Women’s International (MWI) also made their European debut at the Esports World Cup in Paris, while MLBB made its debut as a medal event at the Asian Games.
The ceremony named Team Spirit as Mobile Esports Team of the Year, following its victory at the MSC at the Esports World Cup 2026 in Paris. MOONTON Games noted that Team Spirit became the first team from outside Southeast Asia to win an official international MLBB major.
What comes next
Thailand, which hosted this year’s GamingonPhone Awards, will stay at the centre of the MLBB calendar, hosting the MLBB SEA Championship Tour (MCT SEA) and the M8 Wild Card in December 2026.
The M8 World Championship Finals will then take the M Series to Europe for the first time, in Istanbul, Türkiye, in January 2027.
For Malaysian fans, the road to M8 runs through the MPL Malaysia Season 18 playoffs this week, where two M8 places are up for grabs. LNA Wave will keep following the action.
