Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil has wished couriers across Malaysia a happy National Courier Day (Hari Kurier Negara), thanking them for the effort and sacrifice behind every parcel that arrives at Malaysian doorsteps.
In a post shared on X on the morning of Saturday, October 31, 2026, Fahmi wrote in Malay: “Selamat Hari Kurier Negara kepada semua abang, kakak dan warga kurier di seluruh negara.” This translates as “Happy National Courier Day to all the brothers, sisters and courier workers throughout the country.”
“Every time we receive a parcel at our door, there is the effort and sacrifice of courier workers who brave the heat, the rain and the traffic to make sure every delivery arrives safely,” he wrote. “We truly appreciate your hard work, commitment and service every day.”
The minister, whose ministry oversees the postal and courier sector, closed his message with a prayer for the nation’s couriers: “May every journey be made easy, every task go smoothly and, most importantly, may you always be protected and safe as you carry out your duties.” He shared a Communications Ministry greeting card showing a parcel being handed from one person to another over a street map.
Five million parcels a day
National Courier Day 2026 is being marked today to recognise the contribution of the industry’s workers, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) Deputy Managing Director (Development) Eneng Faridah Iskandar said in an interview on RTM’s Selamat Pagi Malaysia programme last week, Bernama reported. She said several awards would be presented, including for best worker and for the fastest and safest courier companies.
Eneng Faridah said parcel volumes in Malaysia were estimated to reach five million a day this year, with more than 456 million parcels recorded in the first quarter, following 1.57 billion courier items throughout last year. She attributed the growth to e-commerce and changes in consumer habits since the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The rapid growth shows that the country’s digital economy is moving in step with the growth of the courier industry and technological progress. So it is time we showed our appreciation to courier workers who strive every day to make sure parcels reach their recipients,” she said.
She added that the industry is using artificial intelligence and scanning systems to make deliveries more efficient and secure, that the Postal Services Act provides for action against damage to or theft of parcels, and that consumers have the right to complain to courier companies or to MCMC if deliveries are late, damaged or lost.
A celebration in its third year
Last year’s National Courier Day, themed “Democratising Delivery, Connecting the Nation”, was officiated by Fahmi in Shah Alam on November 1, 2025. The Vibes reported at the time that the event, organised by MCMC and the Malaysian Association of Express Companies (AMEC), was then in its second year. Fahmi launched the Code of Practice for Postal Services, the industry’s first self-regulatory code, and presented the MyKurier and Tokoh Pekerja Kurier awards, calling couriers “the frontline heroes of the digital economy”.
Earlier this month, at the World Post Day 2026 celebration at Pos Malaysia’s headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Fahmi announced that the government would set up a Postal Fund with initial funding of RM150 million to support postal and courier services nationwide, including in rural and remote areas, Utusan Melayu reported. He said the fund, to be managed by MCMC, was expected to begin operating in the first quarter of next year.
