WASHINGTON D.C. April 21, 2026 – U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) has publicly accused the Biden administration’s Department of Justice and FBI of conducting a politically motivated “fake investigation” targeting her and other Republican lawmakers, dubbing the effort “Operation Rampart 12.”
In a video statement posted to X on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, Boebert detailed what she described as an unjustified probe into alleged involvement in mapping the U.S. Capitol ahead of January 6, 2021.
“Well everyone, the Biden DOJ and FBI just got caught red-handed,” Boebert said in the video, speaking directly to camera. “They launched a completely fake investigation called Operation Rampart 12 claiming I was mapping out the Capitol for January 6th.”
According to Boebert, federal prosecutors admitted in internal documents dated January 13 and January 16 that there was “zero evidence” to justify investigating her. Despite this, she claims the FBI opened the case on January 22 anyway. Six months later, with no new facts uncovered, the agency allegedly rescinded the investigation.
“They ripped through my campaign mileage logs, bank statements and toll records trying to manufacture a scandal,” Boebert stated. “They spied on me, Paul Gosar, and soon-to-be governor of Arizona Andy Biggs while ignoring real threats to America. They found nothing because there was nothing.”
In a follow-up post accompanying the video, Boebert reiterated: “The Biden FBI spied on me, pulling my travel records and making false allegations internally. They found nothing. If we don’t end the Deep State, it’ll end our country.”
Boebert framed the alleged surveillance as part of a broader pattern of weaponization of federal law enforcement against political opponents. She called for immediate action to “dismantle the deep state weaponization against the American people,” adding, “We are taking our country back. You can count on me to stay in this fight.”
The congresswoman, who represents Colorado’s 4th District and serves as co-chair of the House Second Amendment Caucus, has been a vocal critic of federal intelligence agencies and has previously pushed for reforms to surveillance programs like FISA.
As of Wednesday morning, no official response from the FBI or Department of Justice has been issued regarding Boebert’s specific allegations. The claims come amid ongoing national debates over government oversight, political prosecutions, and the balance between national security and civil liberties.
