KUALA LUMPUR, 14 June 2026 — Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) is stepping up maintenance and upgrading efforts at two public housing estates to enhance the quality of life for city residents.
The initiatives at Perumahan Awam (PA) Seri Sarawak and PA Jalan Loke Yew directly benefit more than 1,700 families. The projects were inspected today during a site visit by Hannah Yeoh, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), and Datuk Seri TPr Fadlun bin Mak Ujud, Mayor of Kuala Lumpur.
The visit focused on DBKL’s ongoing Public Housing Maintenance Programme, which is being implemented in phases across the two estates.

The power and electrical systems were upgraded through the replacement of standby generators (genset) and sub-main cables, with an allocation of RM2.5 million.
To strengthen fire safety, dry riser and wet riser pipes were replaced at a cost of RM375,000.
The estate received building repainting works costing RM4.14 million as part of its visual transformation.
Electrical system improvements, including genset replacement and sub-main cable upgrades, totalled RM3.2 million.
Fire safety enhancements through the replacement of dry riser and wet riser pipes were completed at a cost of RM473,000.
During the visit, the Minister and Mayor inspected road resurfacing, building painting, fire safety system replacements, electrical upgrades, and other supporting facilities to ensure all works meet planning standards and deliver maximum benefit to residents.

These projects are giving the housing areas a fresh appearance while improving safety, utility system reliability, and daily comfort for residents.
In addition to the major upgrades, DBKL continues regular maintenance of public facilities, including internal roads, children’s playgrounds, lighting systems, lifts, complaint management, and periodic inspections to keep all amenities in good working condition.
The efforts reflect DBKL’s commitment to preserving and upgrading public housing assets in Kuala Lumpur in line with current needs, creating safer, more comfortable, and higher-quality living environments for residents.
