KOTA BHARU, Sept 21 2026 — A former deputy general manager of a Tabung Haji (TH) construction project pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to abetting criminal breach of trust involving RM14,000 collected as a penalty from a contractor on a TH commercial building project.
Tengku Kamarolhisham Tengku Kamaruddin, 55, is accused of abetting Mohamad Hashim Mukhatap, then construction manager of THP Timur Sdn Bhd, and an agent entrusted with the RM14,000, in committing criminal breach of trust of the funds.
The money was the proceeds of a penalty collected from contractor Kelpile Sdn Bhd for a proposed 22-storey commercial building on Lot 273, Section 12, Bandar Kota Bharu, Kelantan. The development comprises 244 serviced apartments, four penthouses, public facilities, commercial space, parking, a one-level sub-basement and related amenities.
The charge is framed under Section 109 read together with Section 409 of the Penal Code. If convicted, the offence carries a maximum jail term of 20 years and whipping, and a fine may also be imposed.
On Sept 15, Mohamad Hashim, 53, then construction manager of THP Timur Sdn Bhd, was charged with criminal breach of trust for allegedly misappropriating the same sum by depositing it into his personal bank account.
