TAMPA, FLORIDA 16 July, 2026 — U.S. Central Command announced Friday that American forces carried out another major wave of precision strikes against Iran, hitting dozens of military targets in what marks the sixth straight night of operations.
The strikes concluded at 9:40 p.m. ET on July 16, according to a CENTCOM statement. U.S. fighter jets, aerial drones, and warships launched precision munitions against Iranian coastal surveillance and air defense sites, military logistics infrastructure, and maritime capabilities.
“This was the sixth consecutive night of U.S. strikes against Iran,” CENTCOM said.
The operations were conducted at the direction of the Commander in Chief to further degrade Iranian military capabilities and hold Iran accountable for recent attacks on commercial shipping.
CENTCOM added that more than 50,000 U.S. service members are operating across the Middle East and “remain vigilant, lethal, and ready.”
The announcement reflects the ongoing U.S. military response to Iranian actions targeting vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global shipping route. Similar waves of strikes have been reported in previous nights this week as part of efforts to protect international maritime traffic.
No details on specific damage assessments, Iranian casualties, or immediate responses from Tehran were included in the CENTCOM release.
The situation remains fluid, with U.S. forces continuing operations in the region.
