TUMPAT, Oct 18 (Bernama)-Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) officer Norhazwani Ibrahim, 35, who was found dead at the KLIA quarters in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, last Thursday, was laid to rest at the Tanjong Muslim Cemetery in Pengkalan Kubor here early today.
Her remains arrived at her family home in Kampung Banjir, Telaga Lanas, at 1.10 am, where funeral prayers were performed before she was taken to the cemetery.
The funeral was attended by family members, relatives and friends.
Her elder brother, Mohd Hazwan, 38, said their meeting on the morning of the incident had become a cherished final memory, as he never expected to lose his sister.
He said he had stayed overnight at Norhazwani’s home after completing some errands in Bangi before returning to Kelantan.
“That morning, everything seemed normal. I never expected this to happen, which makes it all the more heartbreaking,” he told reporters at his home early today.
Mohd Hazwan said he learnt of her death through a phone call from her husband, who contacted him using Norhazwani’s mobile phone.
Accepting her death as Allah SWT’s will, he expressed his gratitude to AKPS, the Royal Malaysian Customs Department and the police for helping coordinate the funeral arrangements, from Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital in Seremban to her final resting place in Kelantan.
He said Norhazwani had worked hard to provide for her two children, aged five and six, and visited them whenever her shift schedule allowed. The children are now being cared for by their maternal aunt in the village.
Mohd Hazwan added that Norhazwani had returned to her hometown the previous week to attend to a matter at the Syariah Court on Oct 12.
Norhazwani was found dead at the KLIA quarters in Nilai last Thursday, with her husband allegedly involved in the case.
Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said police received information about the incident at 8.30 pm.
