MINNESOTA January 31, 2026 – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the arrest of Tranquilino Sixto-Anorve, a Mexican national with a history of multiple DUI convictions, following an alleged vehicle ramming incident targeting enforcement officers.
The incident took place on the morning of January 31, 2026, in St. Paul, Minnesota. According to ICE, officers were attempting to apprehend Sixto-Anorve due to his prior criminal record, which the agency described as representing a public safety threat.
During the operation, Sixto-Anorve allegedly rammed an ICE vehicle with his own and also struck a civilian car. Photos released by the agency show significant front-end damage to a black SUV believed to be the ICE vehicle, parked on a snowy residential street alongside a white SUV.
Additional images depict Sixto-Anorve in custody, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt with shearling lining. One photo shows him seated and handcuffed in what appears to be a processing area, while another captures him standing with hands behind his back next to a Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) officer.
In its statement, ICE noted a sharp rise in dangers faced by its personnel, claiming vehicular attacks on officers have increased over 3,000% in recent periods. The agency attributed this trend in part to hostile rhetoric from immigration enforcement critics and sanctuary policy advocates. Earlier DHS reports from January 2026 documented a similar surge of approximately 3,200% in such incidents compared to the previous year.
Sixto-Anorve remains in ICE custody as proceedings continue. No injuries to officers or civilians were reported in the incident.
