PUTRAJAYA April 28, 2026 – Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil today shared a photo on X (formerly Twitter) of an ongoing high-level closed-door meeting involving top leaders of Malaysia’s Unity Government, sparking widespread speculation about efforts to resolve the escalating political crisis in Negeri Sembilan.
In a post captioned simply “Pertemuan berlangsung” (Meeting in progress), Fahmi – who is also PKR’s Information Chief – uploaded an image showing Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim (PKR President), Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (UMNO President), Transport Minister Anthony Loke (DAP Secretary-General), and Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail (PH Secretary-General) engaged in discussion at what appears to be the Perdana Putra complex.

The casual setting, with leaders seated informally around documents, has drawn public attention and mixed reactions online, reflecting heightened interest in the unity coalition’s next move.
Background to the Crisis
The meeting comes hours after Anwar publicly confirmed he would sit down with Zahid to discuss the latest developments in Negeri Sembilan. The state is currently gripped by a political standoff after 14 UMNO assemblymen withdrew their support for Pakatan Harapan’s Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
The withdrawal stems from a constitutional dispute involving the state ruler and the traditional Undangs (customary chiefs), further straining ties between PH and BN components within the unity government.
No official statement has been released yet on the outcome of today’s discussion, which is understood to have taken place following the weekly MTEN (Economic Action Council) meeting.
