KUALA LUMPUR, November 6, 2026 — Umno has paid the RM50 million fine imposed on former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in the SRC International case to the Kuala Lumpur High Court this morning, clearing a key condition of his conditional royal pardon and prompting the court to issue a house arrest order.
Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said in a media statement that the Najib Razak Solidarity Fund, launched on September 18, had reached its collection target and that the party had completed all payment processes with the High Court.
“Umno has completed all payment processes to the Kuala Lumpur High Court this morning,” Asyraf Wajdi said. He announced that the party was officially closing the special solidarity fund account and that public crowdfunding for the fine was no longer needed. The statement did not disclose the total amount collected.
House arrest order issued
Muhammad Farhan Muhammad Shafee, a member of Najib’s legal team, confirmed at the Kuala Lumpur Courts Complex that Umno had paid the fine to the High Court registry and that the court had responded by issuing the house arrest order under the royal pardon.
“As of this morning, the RM50 million fine before Najib has been paid by Umno to the High Court,” Farhan said. “As a result, the court has issued, pursuant to the royal pardon, the order of house arrest.”
He said the legal team had obtained the order and would deliver it to Kajang Prison. Further administrative processes still had to be completed before the former prime minister could leave prison. Asked whether Najib would move to house arrest on Friday, Farhan said he expected that to be possible if the remaining steps went smoothly.
Bernama reported that Najib’s special officer, Ahmad Lutfi Azhar, was at the Criminal Registry Office of the Kuala Lumpur High Court around 11.30am to complete the payment procedures.
Pardon condition and SRC sentence
Najib, 73, has been held at Kajang Prison since August 23, 2022, after the Federal Court upheld his conviction over the misappropriation of RM42 million from SRC International Sdn Bhd. The High Court originally sentenced him in July 2020 to 12 years’ jail and a RM210 million fine. In January 2024, the Federal Territories Pardons Board reduced the jail term to six years and the fine to RM50 million.
On September 18, 2026, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim granted Najib a conditional pardon allowing him to serve the remainder of that sentence under house arrest until August 23, 2028, provided the RM50 million fine and other conditions were met. The payment completed today is that fine — not a separate bail or surety bond — and was the main outstanding condition for the house-arrest order.
Local reports have said Najib is expected to serve the house arrest at his residence in Langgak Duta, Kuala Lumpur, under Prison Department supervision. The conditional pardon relates to the SRC International sentence; separate 1MDB criminal proceedings continue.
