KUALA LUMPUR, November 6, 2026 – Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil has offered formal birthday congratulations to the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, on the Ruler’s official birthday for 2026.
In a post shared on X early on Friday, Fahmi, who is also Member of Parliament for Lembah Pantai and the MADANI Government spokesman, wrote a traditional royal greeting in Malay, conveying formal congratulations to Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Sultan Perak Darul Ridzuan, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, on the occasion of the Ruler’s birthday anniversary for the year 2026.
“May Allah grant prolonged life, well-being and lasting blessings to Tuanku and the entire Perak Royal Family,” Fahmi wrote, ending with the royal acclamations “Daulat Tuanku” and “Dirgahayu Tuanku.”
The post was accompanied by a formal commemorative graphic in royal yellow, bearing the portraits of Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah and Tuanku Zara Salim, the greeting “Dirgahayu Tuanku”, and Fahmi’s name as Minister of Communications and Member of Parliament for Lembah Pantai.
Official birthday, not the birth date
In Perak, the Sultan’s official birthday — Hari Keputeraan Sultan Perak — is observed as a state public holiday on the first Friday of November. In 2026 that falls on Friday, November 6. Sultan Nazrin’s actual date of birth is November 27, 1956, as recorded in official and public profiles of the Ruler.
Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah is the 35th Sultan of Perak. He ascended the throne in 2014 following the demise of his father, Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah, and is also widely known for his academic work, including a doctorate from Harvard University. He has served repeatedly as Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
State observances around the Keputeraan
State coverage of this year’s Keputeraan has noted planned religious observances and the award of state honours. Kosmo Online reported on November 6 that 218 recipients were listed for Perak state orders and medals for the Sultan’s 70th birthday observances, with investiture ceremonies scheduled later in November at Istana Iskandariah in Kuala Kangsar.
The Star, in a November 6 feature marking the official birthday, described Sultan Nazrin as a Ruler known for upholding unity and harmony, and recalled that he was born on November 27, 1956, in George Town, Penang, the eldest of five children of the late Sultan Azlan Shah and former Raja Permaisuri Tuanku Bainun.
Fahmi’s message did not itself announce awards or a government programme. It was a formal personal and ministerial greeting marking the official birthday, consistent with the practice of federal leaders offering respects to state Rulers on such occasions.
A message of respect
By posting the greeting on X with the commemorative graphic, Fahmi placed the congratulations in the public record on the morning of the state holiday. The wording follows Malay royal protocol, addressing the Ruler with full style and title and invoking a prayer for long life and blessings for Tuanku and the Perak Royal Family.
