KUCHING, Oct 9 2026 — Police arrested two local men and seized 32.73 kilogrammes of Eramin 5 pills, estimated to be worth RM3.3 million, in an operation at Kuching International Airport (KIA) on Sept 28.
Acting Sarawak Police Commissioner DCP Saifullizan Ishak said the suspects, aged 25 and 39, were detained at the KIA arrival hall in an operation by the Sarawak Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (JSJN).
He said investigations found the syndicate had obtained the drugs from Johor Bahru before flying them to Kuching for distribution around the city.
“Both suspects are believed to have been paid RM5,000 for the activity,” he told a press conference at the Sarawak Police Contingent Headquarters here today.
Saifullizan said the syndicate is believed to have been active since August, and that the seized drugs could affect up to 163,650 people.
Preliminary urine screening found the 25-year-old positive for methamphetamine, amphetamine and benzodiazepines. The other suspect tested negative.
The 25-year-old, who is unemployed, has three previous criminal records, including one drug offence and two other criminal offences. The 39-year-old, a fisherman, has two previous criminal records.
Both men were remanded for six days until Oct 5, with the remand later extended by two days until Oct 7.
They were charged at the Kuching Magistrates’ Court on Oct 7 under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
