KUALA LUMPUR, May 5 – After an eight-year battle, the long-awaited government health clinic in Menjalara, Segambut, has finally received approval.
Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh announced the good news today, describing it as a major win for local residents.
“Finally: After fighting for a government clinic in #Segambut for 8 years, this is now approved!! Location – next to fire station in Menjalara,” she said.
The project, officially known as Projek Pembinaan Klinik Kesihatan (Jenis 2) Menjalara, Kuala Lumpur, has been green-lit under Rolling Plan 1 of the 13th Malaysia Plan (RP1 RMK13) at a total cost of RM85,900,700.
It is fully aligned with the Ministry of Health’s (KKM) Health Facilities Master Plan 2024-2045.The clinic will be built on a 2.04-acre site and will be implemented by the Health Works Branch of the Public Works Department (JKR Malaysia).
Construction is expected to be completed in January 2032.
Once operational, Klinik Kesihatan Menjalara will directly benefit approximately 256,000 residents, covering the entire parliamentary constituency of Segambut, parts of Batu, and parts of Damansara. The Menjalara area itself is home to around 110,000 people.
The new facility is also set to ease overcrowding at several existing clinics, including Klinik Kesihatan Jinjang, Klinik Kesihatan Batu Muda, Klinik Komuniti Metro Prima, and Klinik Kesihatan Ibu dan Anak Taman Koperasi Polis.
The Type 2 health clinic will offer comprehensive services under one roof, including:
- Outpatient Clinic (Klinik Pesakit Luar)
- Maternal and Child Health Clinic (Klinik Ibu dan Anak)
- Dental Clinic (Klinik Pergigian)
- Emergency services
- Radiology
- Laboratory
- Pharmacy
- Rehabilitation
- Methadone clinic
- Infection Control Clinic
- Other clinical support services
Yeoh who is also the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) emphasized that the project will allow residents to receive more holistic and efficient healthcare.
“The construction of this new health clinic in Menjalara is necessary to ensure quality, efficient and equitable healthcare services for all communities involved,” she said.
The development is in line with the Ministry of Health’s vision of mobilising national efforts towards better health for the people.
Both the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Works have pledged to continue close collaboration in developing health facilities through good governance, ensuring all projects are completed according to quality, cost and timeline targets for the well-being of all Malaysians.
