DOHA April 21, 2026 – The State of Qatar has issued a sharp condemnation of the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex by Israeli settlers and the raising of the Israeli flag in its courtyards, describing the incident as a “flagrant violation of international law.”
In an official statement released today by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar said the provocative act represents “a provocation to Muslims worldwide” and a serious breach of the religious and historical status of the holy site in occupied East Jerusalem.

“The State of Qatar condemns the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex by Israeli settlers and the raising of the Israeli flag in its courtyards,” the statement read. It stressed Qatar’s “categorical rejection of attempts to undermine the status of Al-Aqsa Mosque.”
The Ministry urged the international community to “uphold its moral and legal responsibilities towards Jerusalem and its holy sites” and to “firmly confront the repeated Israeli violations.”
Qatar also reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, emphasizing the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their full right to practice religious rites without restrictions and to establish an independent state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The statement, accompanied by an official graphic from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, comes amid reports of Israeli settlers entering the Al-Aqsa compound under protection of Israeli forces earlier today.
Qatar has consistently called for the protection of holy sites in Jerusalem and an end to actions it views as undermining the prospects for peace in the region.
