BUTTERWORTH, PENANG July 24, 2026 — Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim tonight launched the Indian Muslim Transformational Framework 2030 (IMTF2030) and the Mukmin Future Leaders Scholarship (MFLS) at the PICCA @Arena Butterworth Convention Centre in Penang.
The event was organised by Pertubuhan Gabungan Mukmin Nasional (Mukmin), an umbrella body representing Malaysia’s Indian Muslim community.
In a post on X shortly after the event, Anwar said he travelled to Penang specifically to join Mukmin’s leadership and members for the launch. He praised the organisation for putting forward a positive plan to elevate the dignity of the Indian Muslim community and strengthen its contributions to the nation.
“This effort is in line with the spirit of a MADANI nation, which demands conscious participation by the people, the courage to voice opinions, and the readiness to shoulder shared responsibilities,” Anwar wrote.
He stressed the need to equip the younger generation with skills in artificial intelligence, digital technology, science and emerging fields. At the same time, he cautioned that progress must remain rooted in faith, morals, culture and human values.
“As we reach for the sky, explore knowledge and create progress, we must continue to root ourselves in the earth, firm in aqidah, akhlak, culture and human values. Progress without values will lose its direction,” he said.
Anwar also highlighted the concept of Karamah Insaniah — the recognition of the dignity of every human being. He noted that communities may advocate for their own interests but must never deny the rights or diminish the dignity of others, stating that Islam rejects hatred and upholds human values.
In support of the initiative, the Prime Minister announced an immediate government allocation of RM2 million to help Mukmin assist children from low-income families pursue higher education and enter strategic new fields.
Mukmin president Datuk Shahul Dawood described IMTF2030 as the first comprehensive five-year transformation framework for the community of nearly 800,000 people. It sets targets including mobilising RM50 million for scholarships and talent development, upskilling 50,000 individuals, digitalising 2,500 enterprises, and generating significant economic value.
The accompanying Mukmin Future Leaders Scholarship has already secured commitments exceeding RM10 million, creating more than 400 scholarship opportunities through partnerships with eight higher education institutions.
Anwar expressed confidence that a generation strong in both knowledge and values would elevate the community and propel Malaysia toward greater success.
