PUTRAJAYA April 15, 2026 (Life News Agency) – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim said his heart was deeply moved after meeting one of the Malaysian crew members who had been stranded in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for seven months.
In a post on X today, Anwar revealed he met Muhammad Kamal Idhamuddin Kamal Arifin, a crew member of the offshore support vessel Berkat Tuah, who had been stuck at Hamriyah Port in Dubai along with fellow crew members since late last year.
“Meeting brother Muhammad Kamal Idhamuddin Kamal Arifin, one of the Malaysians previously stranded at Hamriyah Port, Dubai, UAE with his Berkat Tuah crew mates for the past seven months, truly touched my heart and conscience,” Anwar wrote.
He expressed gratitude that, through sustained efforts and close cooperation between Wisma Putra (the Ministry of Foreign Affairs), the Malaysian Embassy in the UAE, and relevant agencies, Kamal and some of his colleagues have now been safely repatriated to Malaysia.
“Alhamdulillah, with continuous efforts and close collaboration, he and his friends have finally been brought home safely,” the Prime Minister stated.
Anwar added that the government is now intensifying its efforts to ensure the remaining stranded crew members are brought home as soon as possible.
“The welfare and safety of Malaysian citizens, wherever they may be, remain the trust and top priority of the MADANI Government,” he emphasised.
He also offered prayers for Kamal and the entire crew, saying: “I pray that brother Kamal and all the crew members continue to be given strength and resilience.”
The post was accompanied by four photographs showing Anwar warmly greeting and interacting with the repatriated crew member in an official setting.
The development underscores the Malaysian government’s commitment to protecting its citizens abroad through diplomatic and inter-agency coordination.
