KUALA LUMPUR, May 5, 2026 — Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming has sharply criticised Perikatan Nasional (PN) over its recent pledge to raise the paddy floor price to RM3,000 per metric tonne if the opposition coalition wins the 16th General Election (PRU16).
In a post on X today, the DAP leader accused PN of making hollow promises, pointing to the coalition’s 33-month tenure in federal government during the COVID-19 pandemic as evidence of poor performance.
“PN janji jika menang PRU lantai harga padi naik ke RM3,000. Dulu jadi kerajaan 33 bulan gagal teruk, yg ada rakyat hidup sengsara hingga gantung bendera putih,” Nga wrote.
He added sarcastically: “Apa pun, naikkan gaji guru PASTI ke RM3,000 dulu. Sembang kosong, kerja auta. #BiarFaktaBicara”
The post was accompanied by a photograph of top PN leaders — dressed in matching blue Perikatan Nasional shirts — stacking their hands together in a show of unity at what appears to be a formal party event.
Nga’s remarks come just days after PN publicly announced the RM3,000 floor price pledge during a gathering in Alor Setar, Kedah. The opposition coalition stated it would include the commitment in its PRU16 manifesto and implement it if given the mandate to form the next government.
The ‘white flag’ movement Nga referenced emerged during the height of the pandemic lockdowns, when many Malaysians facing economic hardship displayed white flags outside their homes to signal a desperate need for food aid and assistance.
This latest exchange highlights the intensifying political rivalry between the ruling Pakatan Harapan (PH)-led unity government and the opposition PN bloc as speculation grows about the timing of the next general election.
