PUTRAJAYA, May 5, 2026 — Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced today that the government has approved an advance payment of RM200 per hectare to registered paddy farmers as part of the Bantuan Khas Insentif Pembajakan (Special Fertiliser Incentive Assistance).
The decision was made during the National Economic Action Council (MTEN) meeting chaired by Anwar.
Speaking at a press conference here following the meeting, Anwar said the advance is intended to ease the financial burden and provide immediate working capital for farmers so they can continue land preparation and paddy planting activities.
“The programme must continue, but they need capital. So we think it is better to give an advance of RM200 so that they can continue the activities of planting paddy,” he said.
The initiative carries a total cost of RM48 million and is expected to benefit approximately 240,000 registered paddy farmers (pesawah padi) nationwide. Payments are set to be completed within this week.
The Bantuan Khas Insentif Pembajakan was earlier increased from RM160 to RM300 per hectare. This latest advance payment forms part of the enhanced incentive to support the agriculture sector and strengthen national food security.
The announcement comes amid concerns over global supply chain issues affecting agricultural inputs.
