AUCKLAND, July 5, 2025 – The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) marked its first-ever participation at The Fine Food New Zealand 2025 (FFNZ25) trade exhibition, held at Auckland Showgrounds from June 29 to July 1, 2025. The Malaysia Pavilion, themed “Taste of Malaysia,” was officially launched by Her Excellency Mazita Marzuki, Malaysia’s High Commissioner to New Zealand, on June 29. Joining her were Abdul Rashid bin Bahir, Director-General of the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA), and Dato Sabibah binti Mohamed, Perak State EXCO for Women, Family, Community Welfare, and Entrepreneurial Development.

Eight Malaysian companies showcased 125 premium agro-food products, including durian-based products, Sarawak layered cakes, biscuits, freeze-dried fruits, health supplements, frozen fish, beverages, and pineapple-based products. Additionally, four entrepreneurs from Perak joined the pavilion, highlighting the state’s contributions to Malaysia’s vibrant food sector.
The pavilion drew significant interest from local visitors, with engaging activities and food sampling sessions captivating attendees. The event yielded 156 business agreements, securing a trade potential of RM34.36 million, with an estimated RM100 million in trade value projected over the next three years.

In collaboration with the Malaysian High Commission in New Zealand and the ASEAN New Zealand Business Council, KPKM hosted the Business Networking Reception 2025, attended by over 60 Malaysian exporters and New Zealand importers. Mazita Marzuki emphasized, “Malaysian agro-food products are not only delicious but also of high quality, meeting the demands of the New Zealand market.” FAMA’s Director-General added that the pavilion promoted Malaysia’s Best, a national branding initiative for premium, high-quality agro-food products targeting new markets like New Zealand.
Malaysia and New Zealand share a robust trade relationship, supported by four Free Trade Agreements. Beyond food promotion, the pavilion also spotlighted Visit Malaysia Year 2026. The strong demand for Malaysia’s premium and unique agro-food products, which resonate with local tastes, underscores their appeal in New Zealand.
KPKM remains committed to supporting local entrepreneurs in penetrating international markets, particularly New Zealand, to boost Malaysia’s economy.
