The WWD 2025 celebration, held at Dataran Sayangi Kuantan, was officiated by Dato’ Mohamad Nizar bin Dato’ Sri Mohamad Najib, Chairman of the Pahang State Committee for Investment, Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation, representing the Pahang Menteri Besar. Also present was Dato’ Mohd Rodzwan bin Mohd Baba Sakri, Deputy Secretary-General (Water) of PETRA.

Over 2,000 visitors attended the two-day event from July 4 to 5, which featured exhibitions by government and private agencies, including the Water Transformation Roadmap 2040 (AIR 2040), a strategic guide for the future of Malaysia’s water sector. PETRA also presented the Water Sector Development Award and the Ecohydrology Research Award to internationally recognized researchers and higher learning institutions.

Themed globally as Glacier Preservation and locally as “Water for Life” with the slogan “My Water, My Life, My World,” the event emphasized the critical role of water in daily life and the need for sustainable resource management.

PETRA stressed that water infrastructure development must go hand-in-hand with public education and community engagement. The WWD celebration served as a national advocacy platform, uniting stakeholders from students to private sectors to foster collective responsibility in preserving Malaysia’s water resources.

Aligned with the Malaysia MADANI vision, PETRA is dedicated to accelerating high-impact water projects to ensure a sustainable water supply and enhance the well-being of Malaysians inclusively and sustainably.
