RIO DE JANEIRO, July 5, 2025 – Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived safely in Rio de Janeiro today to attend the 17th BRICS Summit, hosted by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

In a statement, Anwar expressed gratitude for the opportunity, noting that Malaysia’s participation as an ASEAN Chair and partner nation is a significant honor.
During the summit, he is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with other world leaders and engage with local business communities to explore new strategic partnerships and investment opportunities.
Anwar emphasized Malaysia’s commitment to leveraging the summit to strengthen South-South cooperation and amplify ASEAN’s voice on the global stage.
“God willing, Malaysia will make the most of this platform to foster impactful collaborations,” he said.
