SUNGAI BULOH, Sept 14 2026 — DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke said he will propose to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Presidential Council be convened to discuss recent political developments following statements made at the UMNO General Assembly.
Loke said the remarks had raised concern over political certainty and stability, which could weaken investor and public confidence in the country.
He said the developments were being viewed seriously and that he would ask Anwar, who is PH chairman, to call a Presidential Council meeting to review the latest situation upon his return from an overseas trip.
“Some of the statements made are of course not good in terms of political certainty and political stability in the country, as component parties in the government seem to not be heading in the same direction.
“So this is something which would not give much confidence to investors and to the public. The Prime Minister must also make this clear with all component parties,” the Transport Minister said.
Loke was speaking to reporters after officiating the CARSOME Academy M.V.15 Vehicle Inspection Centre at the CARSOME Dealer Hub here.
He was responding to queries on remarks by UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in his winding-up speech at the recently concluded UMNO assembly, which touched on Barisan Nasional’s (BN) position in the Unity Government.
Asked whether PH would seek clarification on BN’s position or on challenges issued by the UMNO leadership, Loke said any official response at the highest level should come directly from the Prime Minister.
