KUALA LUMPUR / JOHOR BAHRU, July 8, 2026 — Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has lauded the smooth conduct of the Dialog PRN Johor, a collaborative media event held on Tuesday night (July 7) ahead of the 16th Johor State Election.
In a post on X early Wednesday morning, Fahmi said the dialogue organised jointly by Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), Astro AWANI and Sinar Harian “went well last night.”
“Alhamdulillah, Dialog PRN Johor anjuran bersama RTM, Awani dan Sinar Harian berjalan baik malam tadi.
Tahniah kepada pasukan penganjur kerana membina ruang untuk demokrasi dan pertukaran idea terus mekar.
Semoga program seperti ini dapat terus dilaksana di masa hadapan,” he wrote.
The one-hour dialogue session took place at Auditorium Permata Sari, RTM Johor Bahru. It featured an interactive format designed to allow leaders and candidates to share their visions, policies, priorities and solutions for Johor’s issues in a fair and balanced manner.
Key participants included Fahmi Fadzil and Pakatan Harapan candidate for the Puteri Wangsa state seat, Dr Maszlee Malik. Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi was unable to attend due to other commitments, but the programme proceeded as scheduled.
Around 200 participants from government departments, agencies and the Madani Community were present. The event was broadcast live on the organising media platforms.
The dialogue forms part of efforts by the media to strengthen democratic practices by providing open platforms for political discourse ahead of polling day on July 11, 2026. Early voting for the election began on July 7.
Fahmi’s positive remarks underscore the value placed on collaborative media initiatives that promote voter awareness and healthy exchange of ideas during the campaign period.
The event featured a professional stage setup with large “Dialog PRN Johor” graphics and drew a diverse audience engaged in the discussions.
Organisers from RTM, AWANI and Sinar Harian have been praised for creating space for public engagement in the lead-up to the state polls.
