The visit included interactions with the local community, including members of the MADANI Community, as part of efforts to advance the digitalization agenda in rural areas of Sabah.

Operated under the initiative of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), NADI Pulau Banggi serves as a one-stop digital community centre, providing internet access, digital skills training, and information resources to local residents.

During the visit, Fahmi monitored the progress of telecommunications coverage around Pulau Banggi, which has shown positive developments in expanding network reach and connectivity, particularly for Sabah’s communities.

According to an MCMC statement, the visit reflects the MADANI Government’s ongoing commitment to enhancing digital accessibility in rural areas, driving socio-economic development, and advancing the national digitalization agenda.

The Starlink technology deployed at NADI Pulau Banggi provides high-speed internet access with a minimum speed exceeding 100Mbps. The centre is also equipped with training spaces and information reference services that support economic development, education, and digital entrepreneurship.

The NADI Pulau Banggi initiative, part of the Malaysia NADI Digital Inclusion Project, was recently named the champion of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2025 in the C4: Capacity Building category.

The award, organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in collaboration with United Nations agencies, underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring no community is left behind in the nation’s digitalization efforts.

The MCMC statement also mentioned an attachment, though further details were not disclosed.
