PUTRAJAYA, Aug 28 2026 — Preparations for the 2026 National Day parade at Dataran Putrajaya are expected to be nearly 100 per cent complete by tomorrow’s dress rehearsal, with only a few minor aspects still requiring fine-tuning, Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said today.
Fahmi, who also chairs the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) Main Committee, said the remaining adjustments focused on coordinating the movement distances between contingents so that the parade proceeds in a neater and more orderly manner.
“There are several contingents whose movements are somewhat far from the preceding contingent, so this aspect needs to be tightened up a little. Insya-Allah, by tomorrow (the full rehearsal), we believe preparations will be nearly 100 per cent complete,” he told reporters after inspecting today’s rehearsal.
Also present was Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah.
Fahmi said favourable weather had helped the rehearsal run smoothly and praised the high spirits and strong morale of all participants, including security personnel and school students from three states taking part in the human graphics performance.
He said this year’s celebrations would feature new assets and formations. Among the main attractions are the inaugural participation of the Johor Military Force and a maritime asset — the Ibrahim-class boat designed by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.
On the multi-level structure that will accommodate 1,500 students for the human graphics performance, Fahmi gave an assurance that its safety had been thoroughly assessed by Putrajaya Corporation (PPj).
He said the slight movement visible on the structure was within the permitted tolerance level to accommodate the participants’ rhythmic movements.
“The structure needs to have a slight degree of movement tolerance and its safety has been ensured. This is also the third time it has been used, and so far, there have been no problems,” he said.
Fahmi also addressed the structure’s slightly asymmetrical positioning, explaining that the parade route and the PPj building are not on the same axis. The number of participants has also been reduced from 2,000 to 1,500 this year.
He said he had asked the organising secretariat to review technical adjustments for future editions to reduce negative perceptions regarding the positioning of the structure.
The 69th National Day celebration, themed Malaysia MADANI: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati, will be held at Dataran Putrajaya on 31 August.
