PRAGUE, November 4, 2026 – Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres scored in the first half as Arsenal held off a late Slavia Prague fightback to win 2-1 at the Fortuna Arena on Wednesday and climb to third in the UEFA Champions League league-phase table.
The Premier League marked the result on its official X account, noting that the 2-1 away win “takes @Arsenal up to third in the league phase of the Champions League”.
Mikel Arteta’s side remain unbeaten in this season’s competition after four matches, with three wins, and moved on to 10 points, according to the club’s official match report.
A fast start in Prague
Arteta made six changes from the side that beat Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield on Sunday, with Gyokeres leading the line. The Swedish striker made an immediate impact.
In the ninth minute, Gyokeres held up a long ball from goalkeeper David Raya and hooked a pass in behind the Slavia defence. Madueke raced on to it, held off defender Oskar Kubiak and slid the ball past goalkeeper Nazar Domchak to open the scoring.
Arsenal doubled their lead in the 38th minute. Mikel Merino won possession in Slavia’s half, Declan Rice found Gyokeres, and the striker exchanged passes with Merino before curling a fine finish into the net from a tight angle.
The goal continued an upturn in form for Gyokeres, who, according to Sky Sports, had not scored in his first 10 appearances of the season but has now found the net twice in his last three games.
Slavia rally late
The Czech champions were much improved after the break. Raya made a good save to deny Kubiak from the edge of the box and later pushed a Kubiak header against the post, while Gabriel Magalhaes cleared a Mojmir Chytil header off the line after a corner.
Slavia finally got their reward in the 90th minute, when David Jurasek’s low ball across the box allowed Wiktor Nowak to score from close range. That set up a nervy five minutes of stoppage time, but Arsenal held on.
Records and table
Arsenal’s official website said the victory made it 10 Champions League away games unbeaten for the club for the first time. BBC Sport reported that the Gunners now sit third, behind Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
For Slavia, the defeat extended a long winless run in Europe’s premier club competition. The Guardian reported that the run now stands at 23 matches, equalling the longest in European Cup and Champions League history.
What comes next
Arsenal return to Premier League action at home to Hull City at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, looking for a fifth league win in a row, before the final international break of 2026. They are next due back in action away to Newcastle United on Saturday, November 21, according to the club.
The result keeps Arsenal firmly in the race for a top-eight finish in the league phase, which brings automatic qualification for the round of 16.
Match details were confirmed by Arsenal’s official website, BBC Sport, Sky Sports and The Guardian.
