Fahmi Officiates National Address Conference 2025, Pushes for Comprehensive Address System

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia July 17 2025 – Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil officially launched the National Address Conference 2025 at the World Trade Centre (WTC) here this morning, highlighting its role as a catalyst for the full implementation of Malaysia’s National Address System (NAS).

The conference serves not only as a platform for sharing knowledge and opinions but also as a driving force toward establishing a centralized and standardized address database nationwide, Fahmi said in his opening remarks.

Malaysia currently has approximately 12 million addresses, yet no single entity maintains a comprehensive, centralized, and standardized repository of this data.

This gap has led to various challenges, including delivery delays, slow emergency responses, difficulties in infrastructure planning, and hurdles in e-commerce growth.

To address these issues, the Communications Ministry, through the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), is developing the NAS in line with powers granted under the Postal Services Act 2012.

The NAS implementation received in-principle approval during the Fourth Industrial Revolution National Digital Economy Council (MED4IRN) meeting chaired by the Prime Minister on June 24, 2024.

Preliminary findings from the NAS Implementation Study project an economic spillover impact of RM2 billion and the creation of over 2,000 new job opportunities in the market over the next five years.

“Insha-Allah, the implementation of NAS will deliver tangible benefits to the people of Malaysia,” Fahmi stated.

The initiative aims to streamline address management, enhancing efficiency across sectors and supporting the country’s digital transformation agenda.
