PUTRAJAYA August 27, 2026 — The National Day Premier Address 2026, scheduled for 30 August at 9.30pm, will be moved from Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur to the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) because of the current haze.
In a statement issued in Putrajaya, the National Day and Malaysia Day Celebration Working Committee (HKHM) 2026 under the Ministry of Communications said the decision was an adjustment to current conditions, to ensure the safety, health and comfort of guests and the public, and the smooth running of the event.
The committee said the change of venue would not affect the content or spirit of the National Day 2026 celebrations.
“It is instead a responsible step to ensure the event can be held in a more controlled and comfortable environment,” the statement said.
The government will continue to monitor the haze and air quality from time to time.
A decision on the National Day parade will be made based on a current assessment and advice from the Ministry of Health (KKM), the Department of Environment and the Malaysian Meteorological Department.
The public was advised to remain alert to the latest haze situation and to obtain health information and advice through official KKM channels.
