JOHOR BAHRU July 2026 — Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged voters in Johor to support Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidates who can “smartly assess priorities, make bold decisions, and truly understand the pulse of the people.”
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) late on Friday night, Anwar said the people of Johor need leaders and representatives with those qualities. He expressed confidence that PH would continue to champion the voices of the rakyat, defend Johor’s interests, and elevate the state to greater heights.
“Insya-Allah, HARAPAN will continue to carry the voice of the people, defend Johor’s interests, and lift this state to become a more advanced and excellent state for all,” Anwar wrote.
“Johor Ke Depan. Undi HARAPAN🔺🚩”
The post, which included the hashtags #HARAPAN, #MemaknaiHARAPANRakyat and #YakinHARAPAN, comes just one week before the 16th Johor state election on 11 July 2026.
Accompanying the text is a 45-second AI-generated Lego-style animation video produced for the campaign. In the video, a Lego figure of Anwar Ibrahim (complete with signature grey hair, glasses, and a white shirt bearing the Harapan logo and his name) is shown:
- Engaging with crowds at night events
- Shaking hands with supporters
- Taking selfies with young voters
- Delivering speeches from a stage
- Rallying Lego figures in stadium-like settings
Bilingual subtitles (Malay and English) reinforce the message of unity, hard work, and the need to “win the candidates” who will build a stronger nation and a greater Johor.
The creative use of Lego animation marks a modern, youth-friendly approach to political messaging in the final days of the campaign.
The Johor state election follows the dissolution of the state legislative assembly and will see all 56 seats contested. Pakatan Harapan has fielded a full slate of candidates (20 from PKR, 19 from Amanah, and 17 from DAP). The polls are widely viewed as an important test for Anwar’s federal government and the unity of the ruling coalition.
Anwar’s latest appeal focuses on the need for capable, decisive, and people-centric representatives to drive Johor’s development, aligning with PH’s broader campaign narrative of progress and defending state interests.
The post has already garnered thousands of views, with supporters sharing it widely under the campaign slogans. A small number of online comments have noted the use of AI-generated content, but the overall response has been positive among PH supporters.
Johor voters head to the polls on Saturday, 11 July 2026. Early and postal voting begins on 7 July.
