DOHA/QATAR May 10, 2026 – The State of Qatar has issued a sharp condemnation of a drone attack targeting Kuwait, describing it as a “blatant violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty and a flagrant breach of international law.”
In an official statement released today by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar called for an immediate halt to “unjustified attacks against sisterly countries” and pledged its complete support for Kuwait’s security measures.
“The State of Qatar condemns the drone attack targeting the sisterly State of Kuwait… The Ministry also affirms the State of Qatar’s full solidarity with the State of Kuwait, and its support for all measures it may take to safeguard its sovereignty and security,” the statement read.
The condemnation follows an early-morning alert from Kuwait’s military, which reported detecting and neutralizing several hostile drones that had entered its airspace at dawn on Sunday. Kuwaiti authorities described the incident as part of established defensive procedures and reaffirmed the armed forces’ readiness to protect the nation.
The latest drone incursion comes amid a fragile ceasefire between the United States and Iran, with multiple Gulf states reporting similar incidents in recent hours. The United Arab Emirates also condemned parallel drone attacks on its territory, labeling them “terrorist attacks” and a direct threat to regional stability. Reports have also emerged of a cargo vessel struck near Qatar’s Mesaieed Port, further heightening concerns over freedom of navigation in the Gulf.
This is not the first such incident. In April 2026, Qatar similarly condemned drone strikes on Kuwaiti border posts launched from Iraq, urging Baghdad to prevent future violations.
Analysts link the surge in drone activity to broader fallout from the 2026 Iran conflict, testing the durability of the recent US-Iran truce.
Qatar, a key mediator in regional disputes, has been actively engaging with Iranian, Saudi, and other Gulf officials in recent days to promote de-escalation and dialogue. The ministry’s statement today underscores Doha’s consistent stance: protecting sovereignty and stability across the Gulf Cooperation Council remains a top priority.
No casualties have been reported in today’s Kuwait incident, and investigations into the drones’ origin are ongoing.
