Jetsin Sdn Bhd Joins Forces to Strengthen Food Bank Efforts in Sabah
KOTA KINABALU, SABAH, MALAYSIA April 11, 2026 – The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has successfully saved 71.3 tonnes (71,352.69 kg) of surplus food during the month of Ramadan 2026 through the Ihsan Food Bank (i-FB) Initiative.
The achievement was announced today following the implementation of the i-FB@Bazar Ramadan 2026 programme, which was rolled out at 119 Ramadan bazaars across the country with the involvement of 2,875 volunteers. In Sabah, 2.6 tonnes (2,675.74 kg) of food was rescued and distributed to those in need.
“KPDN also welcomed the official joining of Jetsin Sdn Bhd, a Kota Kinabalu-based halal frozen food supplier and retailer, to the i-FB Initiative. The company will strengthen its existing “Dapur Kita-Kita” Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme — launched in December 2024 — in collaboration with strategic partners such as the Persatuan Jurumasak Sabah and Persatuan Dapur Kita Sabah.
Under the i-FB@Dapur Kita-Kita initiative, 200 packs of cooked food assistance were distributed to underprivileged families around Kota Kinabalu. The programme actively involved student volunteers from local institutions of higher learning (IPT).” said Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Datuk Armizan bin Mohd Ali.
Armizan also expressed appreciation for Jetsin Sdn Bhd’s commitment, noting that such partnerships reflect a collaborative whole-of-nation approach between the government, industry players and the community. The effort aligns with the three core pillars of the i-FB Initiative: “Santuni Komuniti, Sayangi Alam, Selamatkan Makanan” (Care for the Community, Love the Environment, Save Food).
The initiative has not only minimised food wastage but has also benefited needy communities while protecting the environment by reducing carbon dioxide emissions and easing the burden on landfills.
The ministry, through the i-FB Secretariat under the National Cost of Living Action Council (NACCOL), is now preparing a National Food Bank Action Plan to further empower and sustain these efforts, including appropriate recognition for consistent contributors.
