KUALA LUMPUR, 25 MAY 2026 – The Deputy Minister of Communications, YB Teo Nie Ching, today announced the formal opening of nominations for the Anugerah Seri Angkasa (ASA) 2026, with the submission window running from 4 to 22 June 2026. The announcement marks the commencement of Malaysia’s most distinguished broadcast awards programme, now entering its 37th consecutive year.
This year’s edition carries the theme “Segalanya Bermula Di Sini” — “It All Begins Here” — a tribute to the enduring journey of Malaysian broadcasting from its radio origins through to the vibrant digital landscape of today.
The awards have been held annually since 1972 as a government initiative through the Ministry of Communications, recognising excellence and elevating the stature of the local broadcasting industry and the talented individuals who power it from behind the scenes.
“This award recognises the journey of Malaysian broadcasting — from radio to the digital world. Every story, every voice, every frame begins here.”
said YB TEO NIE CHING, DEPUTY MINISTER OF COMMUNICATIONS
ASA 2026 features a total of 62 competitive categories, spanning 40 television categories, 17 radio categories, three new media categories, and two special categories.
A notable return this year is the reinstatement of the “Best Radio Commentator” category, welcomed back after its previous absence.
All nominations must be submitted through a licensed broadcasting organisation, and eligible content — whether audio or audiovisual — must have been first broadcast on a TV channel, radio station, or new media platform within the qualifying period of 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2025.
