PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA April 6, 2026 — Perbadanan Putrajaya (PPj) is expanding its popular international language programme this year with a minimal registration fee of only RM20 per language per cohort, making quality language learning highly accessible to children and teenagers in the federal territory.
In a media statement today, Hannah Yeoh, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), said the initiative strengthens efforts to produce a competitive young generation through mastery of global languages, in line with the MADANI government’s aspiration to build competent citizens while upholding Bahasa Melayu as the national language and Malaysian cultural values.
The programme, introduced in 2010, has already benefited 570 participants from Putrajaya. PPj fully subsidises the actual cost of instruction and management, with participants paying only the token registration fee.
For 2026, the programme will run in two cohorts and is expected to benefit at least 240 children and teenagers aged seven and above:
- Cohort 1: 11 April 2026 to 14 June 2026
- Cohort 2: 11 July 2026 to 6 September 2026
Classes will be conducted on weekends for eight sessions at four Neighbourhood Learning Centres (PPK) as follows:
- PPK Presint 8 – Bahasa Mandarin
- PPK Presint 9 – Bahasa Inggeris
- PPK Presint 11 – Bahasa Arab
- PPK Presint 16 – Bahasa Korea
The RM20 fee is significantly lower than commercial language classes in the market, which typically cost between RM320 and RM480 for the same number of sessions.
PPj is also working with the Ministry of Education Malaysia (KPM) to explore recognition of the participation certificates as part of co-curricular activities under the Pentaksiran Jasmani, Sukan dan Kokurikulum (PJSK).
Carsome Sdn. Bhd. has stepped forward as a strategic partner, contributing RM40,000 to support the initiative. Through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, the company has also donated 100 fuel cards worth RM50 each to asnaf and B40 families in Putrajaya.
“Kerajaan komited untuk memastikan akses kepada peluang pembelajaran berkualiti terus diperluaskan secara inklusif dan mampan khususnya kepada generasi muda daripada keluarga berpendapatan rendah,” the statement added.
Hannah Yeoh urged parents and children in Putrajaya to seize this opportunity fully. “Saya menyeru agar peluang ini dimanfaatkan sepenuhnya oleh anak-anak Putrajaya untuk meningkatkan kemahiran komunikasi, memperluas horizon pemikiran dan memperkukuh daya saing mereka pada masa hadapan,” she said.
The programme reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to inclusive, high-quality education for all.
