PUTRAJAYA. MALAYSIA March 16, 2026 – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim attended the launch of the Mushaf Malaysia MADANI at the Kompleks Nasyrul Quran in Putrajaya earlier today, hailing it as a significant national project spearheaded by Yayasan Restu. The event underscores Malaysia’s commitment to promoting Islamic scholarship and countering global Islamophobia through peaceful means.
In his address, shared via his official X account, Anwar emphasized the Quran’s role as a guiding force for humanity, quoting Surah al-Baqarah, verse 185: “The month of Ramadan in which the Quran was revealed, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong).”
The Prime Minister highlighted the initiative’s broader implications for a “MADANI” (Civil and Compassionate) society, where faith serves as the foundation of trust and national aspiration. Addressing prejudices and extremism in the West, such as Quran burnings that have angered Muslim communities, Anwar advocated for a non-violent response: “They burn the Quran, we print a million Qurans with translations in 30 different languages.”
As part of the launch, Anwar announced the dispatch of a container carrying Quran translations in Spanish to Canada and the United States, aiming to spread messages of dakwah (Islamic propagation) globally.
The event also spotlighted the ongoing construction of Madinatul Quran in Putrajaya, envisioned as an international hub for Quranic studies and research. “This is not just a beautiful building, but one filled with meaningful content to become a center for learning and investigation,” Anwar stated, calling for contributions from Muslims within and beyond Malaysia.
Reflecting on challenges facing the Muslim ummah, including the need for unity amid international complexities, Anwar drew inspiration from Surah al-Taubah, verse 40, which recounts divine support for Prophet Muhammad during adversity: “If you do not aid him [the Prophet], Allah has already aided him… And the word of Allah is the highest.”
Anwar extended gratitude to prominent scholars Sheikh Dr. Ahmad ‘Isa Al-Ma’sarawi and Datuk Sheikh Al-Sayyid Afeefuddin Al-Jalani for their prayers and support, expressing hopes for divine blessings on the initiative.
Photos from the event depict Anwar engaging with religious leaders and officials in traditional attire inside the ornately decorated mosque complex, symbolizing unity and cultural heritage.
This launch aligns with the government’s #MalaysiaMADANI and #RancakkanMADANI campaigns, promoting inclusive development and religious harmony. Further details can be found on the Prime Minister’s X post.
