KUALALUMPUR, MALAYSIA March 16, 2026 – In a landmark initiative aimed at enhancing urban living conditions, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has launched a comprehensive road resurfacing program across all 51 Public Housing (PA) and People’s Housing Projects (PPR) sites under its management. This effort, backed by a RM300 million allocation from the MADANI government, marks the first time such a large-scale resurfacing has been undertaken in these areas.
The project, which spans 11 parliamentary constituencies in the federal capital, underscores the government’s commitment to improving the welfare and safety of residents in low-income housing communities. According to a media statement from Hannah Yeoh, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), the initiative ensures that PA and PPR residents can enjoy “a safer, more comfortable, and higher-quality living environment.”
In the first quarter of 2026, road resurfacing works have already been completed at seven key locations: PPR Beringin, PPR Wahyu, PPR Gombak Setia, PPR Hiliran Ampang, PPR Air Panas, PA Hang Tuah, and PA Seri Perlis 1. Ongoing works are progressing at PPR Sungai Bonus and PPR Seri Malaysia, with the remaining sites scheduled for completion throughout the year.
“This historic milestone reflects the MADANI government’s dedication to safeguarding the well-being of Kuala Lumpur’s residents,” the statement emphasized. It highlights how the resurfacing will address long-standing infrastructure needs in these densely populated areas, potentially reducing accident risks and improving accessibility.
DBKL’s proactive approach aligns with broader national aspirations to elevate urban standards, particularly in federal territories. Residents in affected areas have expressed optimism about the upgrades, which are expected to boost community livability and support daily commutes.
Further updates on the project’s progress will be provided as works continue across the city.
