DAP Announces Diverse Slate of Prospective Candidates for 17th Sabah State Assembly Election

KOTA KINABALU, MALAYSIA Nov 8, 2025 – DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke today unveiled a list of seven prospective candidates from Pakatan Harapan (PH) under DAP Sabah for the 17th Sabah State Legislative Assembly General Election (PRUDN Sabah), scheduled for November 29.

The announcement came during the Election Machinery Launch Ceremony in Sabah’s capital, underscoring the party’s commitment to reflecting the diversity of the local community. Among the seven candidates, half are women, and the party is also spotlighting youth involvement, with the youngest contender just 25 years old.

The slate of prospective PH-DAP candidates for Sabah is as follows:

– N19 Likas : Phoong Jin Zhe 
– N21 Luyang : Chan Loong Wei 
– N22 Tanjung Aru : Datuk Chan Foong Hin 
– N25 Kapayan : Jannie Lasimbang 
– N55 Elopura : Vivian Wong 
– N56 Tanjong Papat : Tang Szu Ching 
– N69 Sri Tanjong : Philip Yap 

Loke further noted that one additional prospective candidate for an interior constituency will be announced soon to round out the PH-DAP lineup in the state. He expressed confidence that this diverse group will garner widespread support from Sabahans, aligning with Pakatan Harapan’s agenda for inclusive development.

The 17th PRUDN Sabah is anticipated to be a hard-fought battle, with DAP playing a key role in the PH coalition’s efforts to bolster its foothold in Borneo.
