TIRAM, JOHOR July 4, 2026 – Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi attended a grassroots “Majlis Ramah Mesra” (friendly gathering) with residents in Tiram last night, showing support for Barisan Nasional’s (BN) candidate in the upcoming Johor state election.
Despite light rain, a large crowd turned out for the event organised with voters from PDM Cahaya Masai and PDM Kota Pulasan. Zahid described the atmosphere as a “sea of blue,” reflecting the strong spirit of unity and support among Tiram residents.
He was joined by BN candidate for DUN Tiram, Datuk Abdul Halim Suleiman, former minister Khairy Jamaluddin, and Tebrau UMNO division deputy chief Tuan Haji Azizul Bachok. The group mingled with attendees during the evening programme.
In a statement posted on X, Zahid expressed appreciation for the turnout and said the support shown reinforced confidence in BN’s approach of engaging directly with the people. He added that continued togetherness would help advance development and welfare for the people of Johor.
The Tiram state seat (N40) is one of 56 constituencies being contested in the 16th Johor state election, scheduled for 11 July 2026. It is a four-cornered fight:
- Datuk Abdul Halim Suleiman (BN–UMNO)
- Nor Zulaila Abd Ghani (PH–DAP)
- Khirul Muntanazar Ismail (PN–PAS)
- Dr Harith Fakhrudin Abdul Malek (BERSAMA)
The constituency has around 117,500 registered voters. BN held the seat in the previous election.
Zahid’s appearance comes as BN steps up its campaign efforts ahead of polling day, with early voting for postal, overseas, and advance voters set for 7 July.
The event highlights BN’s focus on direct voter engagement in key Johor constituencies as the short campaign period enters its final week.
