SEREMBAN, July 27, 2026 – Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi yesterday underscored the critical role of entrepreneurs in revitalising Negeri Sembilan’s economy, creating jobs and shaping the state’s development, during the Himpunan Usahawan Bumiputera Negeri Sembilan 2026.
Speaking at the gathering in Bandar Sri Sendayan, Zahid, who is also Minister of Rural and Regional Development, expressed delight at meeting local entrepreneurs and described them as key drivers of economic growth.
“Every business opened, product produced and new market explored has a direct impact on the strength of the state’s economy. Therefore, in efforts to make Negeri Sembilan great again, entrepreneurs must be at the forefront,” he said in a statement shared on his official X account.
He highlighted the state’s significant potential in industrial, logistics, halal, tourism and digital economy sectors. Zahid called on Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) to continue strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem through training, digitalisation, certification, branding and market access so that more businesses can expand and compete internationally.
The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that a clear direction and cooperation among all parties would help strengthen economic stability, generate more employment opportunities, boost entrepreneurial activities and deliver prosperity for the people.
In remarks at the event, Zahid also said the incoming state government after the forthcoming Negeri Sembilan state election must adopt business-friendly policies. He urged MARA to work closely with the new administration to identify high-potential entrepreneurs, provide intensive guidance and support them until they succeed, rather than leaving them halfway.
“The new Negeri Sembilan government, God willing, must be a business-friendly government. There must be serious efforts to help Bumiputera entrepreneurs succeed not only in the domestic market but also internationally,” he said. He expressed hope that within the next five years, more entrepreneurs would progress from small traders to manufacturers and from local brands to globally recognised ones.
The programme, organised by MARA under the theme of empowering Bumiputera entrepreneurs to drive the future economy, brought together entrepreneurs, industry players and government agencies to foster collaboration, business matching, financing opportunities and knowledge sharing.
Zahid’s remarks align with Barisan Nasional’s ongoing “Hebatkan Semula Negeri Sembilan” campaign ahead of the state polls.
